Service 06 · Social Media Marketing

Build attention. Build trust. Build pipeline.

Social media marketing from a consultant, not a content calendar. Two platforms done properly, built from your real work, judged on enquiries rather than follower counts.

Is this you?

Posting every day and getting likes from your friends.

  • 01

You post because you are supposed to, and you could not say what any of it is for.

  • 02

Followers go up slowly, enquiries from social stay at zero, and nobody can connect the two.

  • 03

Your feed looks like every other business in your category: stock photos, "happy Monday", a quote graphic.

  • 04

You ran a boosted post once. It reached a lot of people who were never going to buy.

  • 05

Customers find you on Instagram or LinkedIn, then cannot find the price, the place or the way to book.

Social media marketing for a small business is not content for its own sake. It is proof, in public, that you do the work, feeding brand searches and the trust that makes the search traffic convert. Judged that way, most of what gets posted is wasted.

How I do this differently

Fewer posts, more proof, and every one of them leads somewhere.

As your social media marketing consultant, I start from your work. A before-and-after, a customer saying what changed, a five-minute answer to a question you get asked every week. That beats a quote graphic every time, and it is what people search for your name after seeing.

An SMM specialist should pick two platforms and ignore the rest. LinkedIn and one visual platform for most B2B; Instagram or Facebook plus Google Business Profile posts for most local businesses. Being mediocre on six is worse than being good on two.

Social and search are one system. Posts feed brand searches, reviews and mentions; search catches the person at the moment they want to buy. I report both together, because that is how customers actually behave.

What I will not do
  • Buy followers, engagement or reviews.
  • Post daily for the sake of the algorithm.
  • Run "awareness" ads with no way to measure a customer.
  • Put your brand in trends that have nothing to do with what you sell.
  • Promise virality. Nobody can, and you do not need it.
What you actually get

What social media marketing includes, by month.

Month 1

  • Audit of what you have posted, what got engagement from strangers rather than friends, and what any of it did for enquiries.
  • Platform choice with reasons: the two that matter for your customers.
  • A proof library started: photos of work, customer quotes with permission, the ten questions you answer most.
  • Profiles rebuilt: bio, link, pinned proof, consistent with your site and Google profile.

Months 2 to 3

  • A monthly plan of eight to twelve pieces built from real work, not a calendar of themes.
  • Templates and a capture routine so your team can shoot usable content on a phone in two minutes.
  • Google Business Profile posts weekly for local businesses.
  • Tracking: brand searches, profile visits, link clicks, enquiries that mention social.

Month 4 onward

  • Small paid tests only where a customer can be counted, with a stop rule.
  • Customer stories and case studies produced from finished jobs.
  • Monthly report: what strangers engaged with, what brand searches did, what came in.
  • Content repurposed into pages that rank and get cited, so nothing is posted once and lost.
What it costs

Fixed monthly scope in writing after a free audit of your current accounts. For context, done-for-you social runs $500 to $2,500 a month for most small businesses from Western providers and less from senior offshore ones; ad spend, if any, is separate and paid by you to the platform. You get my number, with the hours, before you commit.

How long it takes

The profiles and the proof library improve within the first month. Brand searches and social-attributed enquiries usually show a trend by month three; social compounds slowly and then suddenly, once real work is visible in public.

How we start

A free look at your site first. Then a fixed monthly scope in writing, with the hours behind it, and you talk to me every time. What this costs in the market, by country and provider, if you want the numbers first.

What the first quarter looks like

A trades business, two platforms, twelve pieces a month of real work.

This is illustrative, not a client case: a heating engineer with a van and a phone. Month one, Instagram and Google Business Profile posts only, a pinned "what we charge" post and a review quote. Months two and three, a two-minute video from every third job, one customer question answered every week, and every post ending with the town and the phone number. The measure is not followers. It is whether calls now mention "I saw your video" and whether searches for the business name are rising. Those are the two numbers I report.

  • 2platforms, not six
  • 8 to 12pieces a month, from real jobs
  • 0bought followers or likes
  • 2numbers that matter: brand searches, enquiries
Before you hire anyone for this

Questions to ask, including me.

The answers you should hear are in brackets. If you get something else, keep looking.

  1. Which two platforms, and why those?Any social media marketing expert should tie the answer to where your customers actually are. "All of them" means none of them properly.
  2. Where will the content come from?Your work, your customers, your questions. If the answer is a stock library and a theme calendar, it will look like everyone else.
  3. How will you show me it brought a customer?Brand searches, link clicks to a page that converts, enquiries that mention social. Not reach.
  4. What happens with paid?Small, measurable tests with a stop rule, only after the organic proof is in place.
  5. How does this connect to my website and Google profile? It should feed them: consistent facts, reviews, posts on the profile, content turned into pages. If social lives in its own silo, it is a cost.
FAQ

SMM questions you might have.

Which platforms do you focus on?

LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube are the core four for most clients, the right mix depends on where your actual customers spend time, not on running every platform at once.

Do you create the content, or just the strategy?

Strategy, content pillars, calendars and platform direction are handled directly. For ongoing content production at volume, I work with a content team under direct guidance so quality and voice stay consistent.

Can you guarantee follower growth?

No, and treat anyone who promises a specific follower number with real caution. What I commit to is a consistent, strategic presence built around content that's actually worth engaging with.

How does social actually support SEO?

Mainly through branded search volume, review generation, content distribution and the backlinks that come from content people actually want to share, all signals that reinforce the work happening on the SEO side. See the full SEO service →

Do you run paid social ads too?

Paid social campaigns (Meta Ads) fall under the paid advertising service, run alongside organic strategy so both reinforce each other rather than competing for budget and attention. See the full PPC service →
