Questions I get asked a lot. Straight answers.
Including the parts that do not sound as impressive as a guarantee would. If yours is not here, ask me and I will add it.
01Working together
What happens when I send you my website?
I look at it personally, usually within a working day or two, across SEO, AI search visibility, content, technical health and conversion paths. You get an email with the two or three things I would fix first and why. No deck, no follow-up sequence, no obligation.
What does working with you look like day to day?
You talk to me. I lead every engagement personally and stay hands-on; there is no account manager between us. Priorities are set each month based on what is actually moving, and the report starts with enquiries and revenue, not rankings.
Do you take one-off projects or only ongoing work?
Both. Technical audits, migrations, redesign checks and one-time clean-ups work as fixed-scope projects. Organic visibility and content work are usually ongoing, because they compound.
Who do you work best with?
SaaS, B2B and local businesses that sell something people search for and are willing to fix real problems once they are found. If you want guaranteed overnight rankings or someone who only says yes, I am the wrong person, and I will tell you so on the first call.
Do you work with businesses outside India?
Most of my clients are in the US, the UK, Europe and the Gulf. I am based in Chandigarh, India, and my working hours overlap with European mornings and US afternoons. Calls are on video, in your timezone.
Who owns the accounts, content and links?
You do, from day one. Google Business Profile, Search Console, Analytics, ad accounts and the website stay in your name; I get manager access you can remove at any time. Everything created for you is yours once it is paid for.
02Pricing
What does it cost?
Two different things. Talking about hiring me is free: the intro call costs nothing, because that is me asking for your business. Buying an hour of my answers, with no proposal attached, is $40 USD one-off. Ongoing work is a fixed monthly scope agreed in writing after a free look at your site, so you know the number before you commit. For what SEO costs in general, read how much SEO should cost in 2026.
What is the difference between the free intro call and the $40 consultation?
Purpose, not length. The intro call is free and about twenty minutes: you are considering hiring me and we work out whether that makes sense. The paid consultation is an hour you buy because you want my answers on your site and nothing else, with no proposal at the end. If you might hire me, never pay for the call.
Do I have to sign a long contract?
I do not ask you to sign a long contract before the work has proved itself. Ongoing engagements run month to month with notice, as set out in the proposal and in the terms.
Is the free analysis really free?
Yes. It is how I decide whether I can help and how you decide whether you want me to. Some people take the list and do it themselves, which is fine.
How do you charge for Google Ads management?
A fixed monthly fee, not a percentage of your ad spend. The spend itself goes to Google from your own account. What management costs in the market, and why the percentage model works against you, is in the Google Ads pricing article; social media pricing has its own.
03SEO and rankings
How long does SEO take?
Technical and local fixes can show movement in 4 to 8 weeks. Competitive organic growth typically takes 3 to 6 months to compound; both case studies on this site hit their major results around the six-month mark. The month-by-month version is in how long SEO takes.
Do you guarantee rankings?
No, and anyone who does is not being straight with you. Nobody controls Google. What I commit to is a clear diagnosis, a prioritised plan, work you can see on your site, and honest reporting on what moved.
How do you measure success?
Visibility, then qualified traffic, then leads, then customers. Rankings and traffic are tracked because they explain the leads; the leads, demos, calls and revenue are the scoreboard.
Is SEO still worth it with AI search?
Yes, if you sell something people search for, and provided you pay for the right things: money pages, a live Google Business Profile, consistent business facts, genuine mentions. The long answer is in is SEO dead in 2026.
Do you work with SaaS and B2B companies?
Yes, it is a core focus: comparison, use-case and pricing pages built around demos, trials and pipeline rather than traffic. See the SEO service and the Canary Mail and BigContacts case studies.
Do you work with local businesses?
Yes. Google Business Profile, map pack rankings, reviews and location pages. See the Local SEO service, or run the local SEO checklist yourself first.
I already have an agency. Can you tell me if they are doing a good job?
Yes. Send me the site and their last report. The 15-minute agency check is what I run, and you can run it yourself.
04AI search: AI SEO, AEO, GEO
What is AI SEO?
Making your business visible inside AI-powered search: Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini. It is the umbrella over AEO and GEO, built on the same foundations as SEO with more discipline about facts and structure.
What is AEO?
Answer Engine Optimisation: structuring pages so an answer engine can lift a direct answer from them and credit you, in featured snippets, voice results and AI answers. One question, one clear answer, proof underneath. Full guide.
What is GEO?
Generative Engine Optimisation: being one of the businesses a generative engine names when it writes a recommendation. Mostly entity consistency, plain claims, real reviews and genuine mentions on the sites the models already read. The 12-point checklist.
How are AEO and GEO different from SEO?
SEO competes for a ranked link someone clicks. AEO competes for the direct answer to one question. GEO competes for a mention inside a synthesised answer, often with no click at all. The foundations overlap; what changes is how much the rest of the web has to agree with you.
My traffic dropped but rankings look fine. Is that AI?
Probably, if the drop is on informational "how" and "what" searches while commercial searches held. How to confirm it in Search Console, and what to do about it.
Can you guarantee placement in ChatGPT or AI Overviews?
Nobody can, including me. The work makes your information easier to verify and quote so that you are in the running, and I measure it by prompting the engines every month and logging who they name.
Can I use AI to write my website content?
To draft from your own notes and to tidy pages, yes. To generate pages from a keyword at scale, no; Google names that as spam and the AI engines ignore it anyway. What Google actually penalises.
05Google Ads and social
Should I do SEO or Google Ads first?
It depends on three things: how soon you need customers, whether you already know which searches convert, and how expensive clicks are in your market. The decision guide has a worked example on a $2,000 budget.
Can SEO and PPC work together?
Yes, and for most businesses they should. Ads bring customers now and tell you which keywords convert; SEO takes those keywords and compounds underneath. Both send people to the same landing page, which is the part most setups get wrong.
Do you guarantee a return on ad spend?
No. Auctions, seasonality and your market move the number. What I commit to is tracking every enquiry before spending, cutting wasted spend in week one, and a clear stop rule tied to cost per customer.
Do you create social content or just the strategy?
Strategy, platform choice and the content plan are mine. Production comes from your real work: photos, short videos, customer quotes, answered questions. When volume needs more hands, I direct a writer or designer so the voice stays consistent, and you know who they are.
Nothing matches that. Try another word, or ask me directly and I will answer and add it here.
Ask me. I reply myself.
One email with your question and, if it helps, your website. No form fields, no sequence.
