Your traffic is down, your rankings look fine, and nobody can tell you why.
- 01
Search Console shows impressions steady and clicks falling, especially on "how" and "what" searches.
- 02
You ask ChatGPT or Google for a recommendation in your category and competitors are named. You are not.
- 03
Your agency says AI search is "the future" but the plan is still two blog posts a week.
- 04
You blocked the AI crawlers on advice from a plugin, and you are not sure what that cost you.

You have good content that says the right things in the wrong order, and it never gets quoted.
AI SEO is not a new discipline with new magic. It is search visibility for a results page that now answers first and lists second. The businesses that win it are the ones that are easiest to verify and easiest to quote.
Be the source the answer cites, and put the ask where the click lands.
I do not chase clicks you have already lost. Informational traffic that AI answers absorb is not coming back. The job is to be cited inside those answers, to win the commercial searches that still send people, and to make sure that when someone arrives already informed, the page gives them a reason to act in the first screen.
Most AI SEO consulting is entity work, not clever tricks. One consistent description of your business everywhere. Plain claims with numbers. Real reviews that describe the work. Mentions on the sites the models already read. I do that work, and it is measurable: I prompt the engines with your buyers' questions every month and log who they name.
Structure is a feature, not a garnish. Question-shaped headings, the answer in the first sentence, tables where people compare, an author with a face. Pages built like that get cited by Google's AI, by ChatGPT and by Perplexity, and read better to humans too.
- Sell you "AI content" produced at scale. That is the thing the engines ignore.
- Promise a citation. The engines do not take orders either.
- Block or unblock crawlers without showing you what changes.
- Report traffic as the goal when the point is enquiries from people who arrive pre-sold.
- Pretend it is separate from SEO. Same foundations, more discipline.
What AI SEO services actually include, by month.
Month 1
- AI visibility audit: which of your pages are exposed to AI answers, which are safe, and where competitors are cited instead of you.
- A prompt set of 20 buyer questions, run in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Mode, logged as your baseline.
- Entity clean-up: one description of the business, matched across site, LinkedIn, profiles and directories.
- Crawler access checked and fixed (GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended).
Months 2 to 3
- Your ten most important pages restructured to be quotable: definition first, questions as headings, numbers, tables, FAQs with schema, visible author.
- Value and the ask moved into the first screen of each money page.
- Listings and profiles the models read completed properly (industry directories, review platforms, Business Profile).
- Original material the engines cannot invent: a benchmark, a point of view, real examples.
Month 4 onward
- Monthly prompt audit: which engines name you, for which questions, how often.
- Third-party mentions earned: trade press, partners, podcasts, communities.
- AI referral traffic tracked as its own channel in analytics.
- Report that shows citations, AI referrals and enquiries side by side with classic rankings.
Fixed monthly scope after a free audit of your AI visibility, with the hours behind it. It sits inside a normal SEO retainer because it is the same work done to a higher standard, not a separate line item with a new name. The pricing article has retainer ranges by country and provider; you get my number in writing before you commit.
Restructured pages that already rank can appear in AI answers within a few weeks of being recrawled. Being named consistently in ChatGPT and Perplexity for your category takes three to six months of entity and mention work.
A free look at your site first. Then a fixed monthly scope in writing, with the hours behind it, and you talk to me every time. What this costs in the market, by country and provider, if you want the numbers first.
Canary Mail: 2,200+ mentions across ChatGPT, AI Overviews and Gemini, and #1 for "AI email client".
The same pages that grew organic traffic 357% were built to be quoted: definition-first feature pages, comparison tables, plain claims. When AI answers arrived, the site was already the easiest source to cite. Today it is named across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Gemini for the category, ranks first for "AI email client", and holds a 44 authority score built on editorial links, not directories.

Questions to ask, including me.
The answers you should hear are in brackets. If you get something else, keep looking.
- How will you know if it is working?A monthly prompt audit with logged results, plus AI referral traffic and enquiries. Not "AI visibility score" from a tool nobody can explain.
- Which of my pages are exposed to AI answers right now?A list from Search Console, split into informational and commercial, with what happens to each.
- Will you use AI to write my pages? To draft from my notes and yours, yes. To generate pages from a keyword, never. Ask them the same.
- What do you do about the traffic I have already lost?Honest answer: replace it with citations, commercial searches and channels Google cannot take. Anyone promising to get the old clicks back is guessing.
- Show me a business you got named by an AI engine.A name and the prompts. Any AI SEO specialist worth hiring can do this. Mine is above.
AI SEO questions you might have.
What exactly is AI SEO?
It's optimizing your content, entities and authority signals so AI tools like ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Gemini cite or recommend your business when someone asks a relevant question, instead of, or alongside, ranking in traditional search.
How do you measure AI visibility?
By running real prompts through each platform and tracking how often, and how favorably, your business gets mentioned, the same method used to get the Canary Mail numbers above, where mentions were tracked separately across Google AI Overview, AI Mode, ChatGPT and Gemini.
Does AI SEO replace traditional SEO?
No, they work together, and most of the same fundamentals (clear content, technical health, real authority) support both. But the tactics that win an AI citation aren't identical to the ones that win a page-one ranking, which is why it's treated as its own discipline. See the full SEO service →
Which AI platforms do you optimize for?
ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode and Gemini are the core four right now, since they carry the most search-replacing query volume. The landscape moves fast, so this list gets revisited regularly.
How is this different from AEO or GEO?
AI SEO is the umbrella, visibility across AI-powered search generally. AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) focuses specifically on structuring content to be pulled as a direct answer. GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) focuses on how generative models synthesize and cite sources. In practice they overlap heavily and are usually worked on together. See the full AEO service →
