Privacy Policy
This page explains what information this website collects about you, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not skimmed past. If anything is unclear, email me at email me and I will answer myself.
Who I am
This website is run by Rakesh Kumar, an independent SEO consultant based in India, working with clients worldwide. For the purposes of data protection law (including the EU and UK GDPR where they apply), I am the data controller for the information described below. Contact: email me.
What I collect, and why
1. What you type into a form
When you use the free findability check, the free growth analysis form, the contact form or a booking request, you give me some or all of: your name, your email address, your website address, your answers to the scorecard questions, the service you are interested in, and a short note about your goal.
Why: to reply to you, to send you the analysis you asked for, and to prepare for a call you have booked. Legal basis: taking steps at your request before entering a contract, and my legitimate interest in responding to enquiries.
Where it goes: your submission is stored in this website’s database and sent to my email inbox. You receive a confirmation email so you know it arrived.
2. Emails you send me
If you email me directly, I keep the email and reply to it. Emails are stored in my email account (Google Workspace / Gmail) for as long as we are in contact and for a reasonable period afterwards.
3. Booking and payment details
If you book a paid consultation, the booking and payment are handled by the platform you book through (for example Upwork or a scheduling tool linked from this site). That platform’s privacy policy applies to what you enter there. I never see or store your card details.
4. Technical information
Like every website, the server records basic technical logs: your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the time. These are used only to keep the site running and secure, including a short-lived rate limit on form submissions to block spam. Logs are deleted on a rolling basis by the hosting provider.
5. Analytics
If analytics are enabled on this site (Google Analytics 4 or a privacy-focused equivalent), they measure which pages are visited and how people arrive, in aggregate. Where the law requires it, you will be asked for consent before any analytics cookie is set, and the site works fully if you say no.
Cookies
This site does not set tracking cookies by default. WordPress may set a functional cookie if you log in (only I do) or if a consent choice needs to be remembered. Embedded third-party content, such as a booking widget or a video, may set its own cookies when you interact with it; those are governed by that provider’s policy. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time.
Third parties who process data for me
- Web hosting: stores the website and its database, including form submissions.
- Email provider: Google (Workspace / Gmail), for receiving and sending email.
- Fonts: web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests the font files from Google’s servers and discloses your IP address to Google in doing so.
- Booking and payment platforms: Upwork or a scheduling tool, when you book a paid session.
- Analytics: if enabled, as described above.
I do not sell your information, share it with advertisers, or add you to a newsletter you did not ask for.
International transfers
I am based in India. Some of the providers above are based in or store data in the United States. If you are in the EU, UK or another region with data transfer rules, your data may be transferred outside your region. I rely on the providers’ standard contractual clauses and equivalent safeguards for those transfers.
How long I keep it
- Enquiries and analysis requests: up to 24 months after our last contact, so that I can pick up the conversation if you come back. Deleted earlier on request.
- Client records: for the duration of our work together and for up to 7 years afterwards, as required for accounting and tax purposes.
- Technical logs: a few weeks, per the hosting provider’s rolling deletion.
Your rights
Wherever you are, you can ask me to: tell you what information I hold about you; correct it; delete it; stop using it for a particular purpose; or send you a copy in a usable format. If you are in the EU or UK, these are your rights under the GDPR, and you also have the right to complain to your local supervisory authority. If you are in California, you have the right to know what is collected and to request deletion, and I do not sell personal information.
To use any of these rights, email email me from the address you used with me, or use the contact form. I will reply within 30 days, usually much faster.
Security
The site runs over HTTPS. Form submissions are stored privately and are only visible to me when logged in. Spam protection includes a hidden field and a rate limit on submissions. No system is perfectly secure, but I take reasonable care and I will tell you promptly if something goes wrong with your data.
Children
This site is for businesses and is not aimed at anyone under 16. I do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top of this page will change and, if you are an active client, I will tell you directly.
